In August, a good number of the CCT group had the privilege of attending the praise-filled Thanksgiving Service in Landbeach for Malcolm McArthur OBE FRCS. Another of our group, Pastor Robin Agnes, who has been a huge support to Malcolm in every way, gave a powerful address. The text on the front cover of the order of service was Malcolm’s hope for the world, and how great is our desire that this ‘fullness of life’ which Malcolm enjoyed, will truly be able to be celebrated right to the end of earthly existence.
Malcolm “the been part of our care home vision for the last few years but sadly had been in hospital since March. He was a surgeon in Botswana and, together with Gudrun his (mid)wife, he founded Flying Mission (have a look at the link). Malcolm’s unwavering faith and dedication to serving God through serving people had a profound impact on the country. His leadership, energy, courage and commitment were superlative. Malcolm was a great man of prayer and he brought these qualities to the CCT vision. How amazing it would have been to have had a Christian care home ready for him in his hour of need. We are motivated by his life and death to keep praying and believing that, like Flying Mission, it will, one day, become a reality and have a profound impact. We sang “The Lord’s My Shepherd” with many African voices lending tone and beauty to the familiar words.
His wife Gudrun died shortly afterwards, she was very poorly. Our sympathy to their family and friends.
